Danny reluctantly walked into the main hall, guided by his omnipresent feline companion. He had been studying nonstop for quite sometime, and he felt like his brain couldn't take anymore - he needed fun.
"So what is there to do here? I mean geez, it's just an overly-commercialized holiday that was originally held to celebrate some Catholic martyr for getting his head lopped off," he wondered aloud, hoping any one of the numerous people around him would give him an answer. It was odd that people would make this kind of thing a holiday - he never did understand it. He adjusted his robes, just for a good outward appearance, and headed into the Great Hall with an exasperated sigh. Muffin was now by Danny's side, pleased by the boy's, reluctant as it may have been, final choice.

Melissa wandered into the Great Hall for the Ball. It was her Ball/Dance she has ever been to here and maybe she was going to make a new friend or two. She giggled when someone asked something aloud then went in. She followed in after him and smiled. She tapped in on the shoulder and said, "Hello!"
She stood there, with the grin on her face. She looked around and saw that it was so...pinkish in the room. The music was great and the decorations were great too. She looked at all the people in there, not very many yet but still some. She turned her attention back to him.

A female voice. Rather cheery. Danny turned around and, indeed, faced a girl. Well, he faced the air above her head, rather. She looked to be about 11 or 12. He looked down and smiled. "Hello," he said, his Russian-German-like accent showing through as usual, "I'm Danny... You are?"
Muffin stopped - a distraction? No, a female. She was smaller than Danny, but seemed quite energetic. If she were to befriend Danny, maybe that would get him to be more active...

Melissa looked up to him and then down to his cat. "I am Melissa, I am new here," She said once she looked back up to him. "Its nice meeting you Danny." She looked down to the cat, "Does your cat bite?" She asked a little scared. She loved cats but had bad experiences with most.
Melissa looked back up to him, a small smile took place of the big one. She sighed, "Why does there have to be a Valentines Day?" She asked mostly the air. It made her feel stupid, going stag, to the Ball.

"Hela du saad oui, Melissa," Danny said in his traditional Al Bhed. Muffin? Bite? He had to give a slight laugh, but not insultingly - just a bit of an odd coincidence. "You'll find no more affectionate cat on this planet than Muffin," he advised her, as the giant cat walked to her to rub against her leg, "He's a wonderful cat, and loyal at that." And then, her question. "Yes, my exact question," he said, "You'd be surprised, and probably more than a bit.. eh, horrified, to know the true history behind the holiday. I find the whole commercialized version to be quite illogical, really." He shrugged.
((Hela du saad oui. = HELL-ah DOO SAHD WEE = Nice to meet you.))

"Do you think he would mind if I petted him?" Melissa asked while looking at the cat stare up at her. She smiled as she bent down to the cat's level holding out her hand. She was sure that the cat would smell her first before letting her pet him.
"Valentine's Day is just a way to make people feel bad if they don't have anyone to love," Melissa said silently but loud enough so he could hear her.

((I forgot the Al Bhed translation AGAIN... Geez. lol Added in last post.))
"Of course not. The only thing he'd mind is if you don't pet him... Unless you like having a gigantic cat trying to knock you over," he said with a chuckle.
"Yes, I agree fully," he said, then added, equally as quietly as she, "Especially if you've no family to share it with either..."
Muffin was patiently waiting for the girl to pet him, staring up at her, his long, incredibly fluffy tail, dusting the floor.

Elphaba Thropp sighed softly as she entered the Great Hall. Tonight she was wearing a single long black dress(the complete opposite of what was expected on Valentines Day) with long black sleeves, to cover as much of her skin as possible. Although the dress was extremely conservative, it still had its own elegant beauty to it. Despite how much Elphaba tried to hide it, she was beautiful... Despite her skin color..
With another sigh, the green witch sulked over to a corner and plopped down. She hated Valentines Day and the only reason she had came was cause she had heard somewhere it was madatory.. Plus, she needed to talk to a few professors about her project she had been working on.

Mouse started to pet him and smiled. "Why, wheres your family?" She asked quietly. She didn't have much of a family. Only a mother was all she had. She kept petting the cat trying not to show that she was getting sad.
"Giant cats pushing me over? That would probably happen but you never know," Meli said shrugging looking up to him. She stood back up after a few minutes but bent over for a few seconds to scratch behind his ears.

Danny sighed, "My father went missing some years back, and my mother died not too long after. I'm still looking for him - my father, that is." He shrugged. He had actually gotten over it, despite his continued ordeal trying to find his father. "Eh, could be worse," he laughed.
Muffin, as usual, was enjoying the attention he was receiving, and purred to the best of his ability.

"Yeah, It could," Mouse smiled a little bit and then said, "What shall we do?" She asked quietly and smiled and sat down on a near by bench, wondering if that cat would sit there so she wouldn't have to bend down anymore.
"Dances/Balls are so boring, all you do is come here, drink, dance, talk, then leave. I really got no use for it. I only came here to make friends," Mouse said quietly again.

"DAN-NYYYYYYYYYYYYYY-KUNNNNN!!" The scream echoed from the stairs where a very talented girl was doing cartwheels down them. "Konnichiwa, Danny-kun!Konnichiwa, Muffin-kun!Konnichiwa..Uhmm.." She stopped, doing a back flip off the third to last step and landing. She held out her hand, ignoring the stares she got from Aika, who was behind her with Emily. "I'm Jerome Reika, Reika Jerome!" At that point a small golden lab puppy had made it's way to her."And this is Mel-chan!" ~-~ "Luckyy!" Muttered Aika to Emily as they followed the young Ravenclaw. "Darn straight." Emily smirked."Oh..Did you hear about Hai--" "WHAT'S WRONG?!?!" "Shuddup!" Emily put her hand over Aika's mouth. "She's pregnant," Whispered the werewolf.

A scream...? Oh. Danny turned around with a smile. "Hello, Reika," Danny said, "Hello, Emily, and hello, er...?" One more he didn't know. He wasn't surprised. "Melissa, Reika. Reika, Melissa," Danny said. Muffin meowed his hello to everyone.

"Hello," Melissa said quietly, petting the cat still. She smiled to them but then looked around again. She wasn't very social actually. Danny was the first one she actually went up to and started talking. She brought her hand out to shake, slowly.

Cheyenne rested her hand on the rail and looked down at the group of five below her. Danny and four girls. She looked down at the ground sadly. He probably wouldn't even notice me now, what with all them crowded around him. She let out a slow breath and stepped down the last few stairs to the Great Hall.
Might as well give it a shot.
"Mind if I steal Danny away, ladies?" she asked, starting to show one of her smiles. Her white dress came down about mid-thigh and was strapless. She was wearing small pearls tight around her neck and wrist. All week, when she had planned what she would wear, she had kept Danny in mind.
