Kyle walked into the library, not really hooked on studying. If he didn't get better grades then he wouldn't be able to play Quidditch anymore or until he got better grades.
He thought it was safer to study in the library then in the common room because most of the people there were jerks, like him or more, when it came to studying.

Bobby Lee didn't like books. Maybe his friend Ike's dislike for anything academic had rubbed off on him, but he had his own reasons, too. Books were just a bunch of words on a bunch of pages in between two covers. Sure, Bobby loved to learn (well, more than Ike, anyway), but he like hands-on activities, not sitting and reading.
Today, however, he was stuck in the library researching the reactions of Graphorn horn to water for his Potions essay, which was coincidentally due the very next day. He was sitting at a four-chair, rectangular table near the far corner of the library, a half-filled parchment lying in front of him and a quill in hand.
It was unusually quiet without anyone around. Ike was at Quidditch practice, and Bobby was stuck all by himself for the afternoon.
The Gryffindor was marveling at the sheer height of the bookshelves, stuck in a horrible writer's block, when another student entered the room...

Kyle saw the kid that ran into a tree the time he met them. He walked up to him slowly, a smirk on his face. When he was next to the kid, he sat his arm on the table. "Well If it isn't the kid who ran into the tree?" Kyle said.
He sat down across from him. "Hmm, I thought that other kid would be here with you. It seems that you are always around him."

Bobby's eyes widened as the Slytherin sat down across from him. It wasn't that he hated Slytherins, he was just deathly afraid of them, this one especially.
He had been unconcious during much of the confrontation he and Ike had had with Kyle and... Maria, was it? Bobby was still fully aware that Barinholtz had been shaken from the incident, and that frightened him.
"It--it's y-you," he said shakily, slinking down in his chair and appearing smaller than he usually did, and Bobby was very small. He really hadn't heard anything Kyle had said, he was still trying to grasp the fact that only a few feet seperated them.

"Of course its me, I wasn't lying when I said I went to this school," Kyle said not bothering to look at him. "Its too bad Maria isn't here, she isn't here to protect you or any other pathetic human."
Kyle shrugged, he looked to Bobby, he was just trying to scare him. He showed him one of his scariest glares and looked at him darkly.

In response to Kyle's dark look, Bobby fell out of his chair, landing on the floor in a heap, but quickly recovering and jumping back to his feet. He pointed an unsteady finger at the other boy.
"I-I'm not-t s-scared of y-you."
It was clearly a lie, and Kyle was sure to pick up on it.

"I'm sure you aren't," Kyle said sarcastically. "Run, Run and go get your friend, you know you want to." Kyle chuckled to himself darkly. The kid was clearly scared of him, it showed in his stuttering and jumping when he gave him a dark look.
Kyle shook his head at the boy. "Honestly, if you try to act tough I would at least leave you alone, for now."

The Gryffindor considered this, forgetting his fear momentarily.
"Really?" He looked at Kyle suspiciously. "You won't stupefy me and hide my body behind one of those bookcases if I do, w-will you?"
He wanted to sit back down, but he wasn't going to until he was sure it was safe.

"Yes really," Kyle sighed, "Now I won't stupefy you and shove you body in a bookcase, even if I really want to." Kyle rolled his eyes at the kids reaction.
He sat back down at the table then stated, "I am not that bad of guy once you get to know me. The same with Maria except she doesn't try to scare people. We are vampires, so, we still are good people."

Even though he was still uncertain of the Slytherin's motives, Bobby lowered himself back into the wooden chair he had previously occupied.
"You don't really look like a vampire..." He narrowed his Asian-esque eyes. "You're not claiming to be one just to scare me... are you?"
For some reason, he was feeling braver now. Hopefully it would last.

"Maria and I are really vampires, the story I told about me turning Maria into a vampire is true. She even has bite marks to prove it," Kyle said, shaking his head still.
"Do you not believe anything you hear?" Kyle asked looking at him, his arm around the back of the chair.

"I believe... stuff."
Bobby was actually very gullable. On an average day, he took most anything he heard to be the law, but when he was feeling angry or upset he became contradictory. His newfound (and probably temporary) courage most likely brought on his distrustfulness.
"How did you get so brave? Did you learn or were you just born like that?" He wasn't sure where the question had come from, but deep inside, Bobby really wanted to be as brave as Ike. He wasn't courageous like the other Gryffindors... he wanted to impress them.

"Me, I turn brave because my foster parents would beat me for what I was. My parents didn't love me," Kyle said, "I had to be brave, be strong and all that I could be to get out of there. I ran away with other homeless vampires."
Kyle sighed, painful memories came back to his mind but no expression was in his face.

So... Kyle was forced to be brave. His life had called for it.
Bobby's life didn't call for bravery, at least, not presently, and he certainly hadn't been born heroic... so how was he supposed to get that way?
The Gryffindor had never really thought about it before. All he had cared about before now was having fun, but it occured to him that maybe he was severely lacking in a quality that he was supposed to have. After all, he was sorted into the house represented by the lion, yet even some of the Slytherins were more daring than he was.
Had the Sorting Hat made a mistake?
Then, an idea hit Bobby in the back of the head like a brick.
"Kyle?" he asked. "Can you teach me to be brave?"
Maybe it was stupid for him to ask a 'rival' for help with such a problem, but he wouldn't tell his housemates about it.

"Teaching you to be brave, hmm, why not?" He said shrugging. He showed him a small smile, which he never showed to anyone besides when he was alone with his only friend. "Its going to be hard to teach you how to be brave, but you will learn."
Kyle then replaced his smile with a smirk and looked to the kid.
