"It's natural to be a little nervous, right Celi?"
Nickolas James paced his new classroom, determined to be prepared when the students arrived. He had only arrived the night before and hadn't had much time to unpack anything except what he would need for classes.
His youngest brother, Calvin, hadn't been able to greet him yet but he expected to see the Slytherin soon. Knowing Cal he would show up early just to talk and congradulate Nick on getting the job; not that he hadn't already done that in letters the brothers had exchanged. Calvin was very supportive of Nick in whatever the latter chose to try. Of course, Nick had been supporting Calvin since the latter was only five. Regardless of the eleven year difference, the brothers we the best of friends.
Without warning, Nick flew up into the air, flitting around as a little grey Chickadee. His pet watched him with interest though she had been taught not to prey on her master while he was in animagus form. The osprey called something to him and he landed on a wooden beam. Calvin entered the room, fully dressed in his jeans, pressed white button-up shirt, and black and green Slytherin robes. Nick watched anxiously as if he couldn't believe he was actually seeing his little brother. Calvin cupped a hand around his lips and made a quiet bird call, making Nick ruffle his feathers.
Nick called back before flying down to the floor and embrasing Calvin in a rib-crunching hug.
"You're taller, little brother."
"And yet you still tower above me," Calvin teased, stepping back. He looked up at the bird staring down at him. After a few days had passed since Calvin met Araceli, he had learned to never get near her without a treat. He smirked and pulled a mouse out of his pocket. He clicked his tongue and watched the bird of prey swoop down and snatch it from him. He had also learned not to flinch.
"Great to see you, Cal." Nick smiled and leaned back against the desk.
"You too, Nick. I am sorry I didn't come sooner but I had a lovely lady claiming my attention. Perhaps she'll be in the class." Nick raised an eyebrow and Calvin laughed. "We'll behave. She's on the rebound, I wouldn't try anything."
Nickolas patted his brother's shoulder and motioned to one of the many tables, each with two chairs side-by-side.
"Well, pick anywhere. I assume the rest of the class to be here soon."
Calvin nodded and chose a seat in the direct middle of the class. For the most part, he would be able to keep an eye on the kids who would be causing the problems. The students who sat in the back tended to be quiet and cooperative. The obnoxious ones, Malcom and Ike, for instance, would be in the front if they came at all. Elle was lucky to get away from that idiot.
Nickolas settled himself behind his desk, flipping through his lesson plan for the day, last minute preparations. When the students came he would have to take Araceli back to his chamber.

Casey Christos found himself walking down the hall, all his books and quills and random other stuff for class in a little bag he had tied around his waist under his Ravenclaw robes. He nodded to another student as she asked him about her assignment. She had apparently fallen asleep in class, after scolding her for a moment, he filled her in on what she needed to know. “So, Asher… wishing you were in Astrology with me?” Casey asked, poking his friend in the shoulder. Chris looked upward and continued walking. “Aw, c’mon, it’ll increase your erudition.” Casey whined, causing Chris to raise an eye brow. “Oh shut up. Fine, I’ll just head off to class… all alone, and lonely…” He said, pretending to sniffle. “Sounds like a good plan to me. I will be in my own class, thanks.” Chris said, turning down another hall. Casey rolled his eyes. *** Jessie pulled on her tennis shoes under her robe. She couldn’t be any less bored that day. So she’d decided to take a hike after the day was over. It would be fun. She liked hiking, and she was needing something to distract her from homework. As she walked she adjusted her hat, she hadn’t worn it since she was given it, so she’d decided to wear it that day. She walked down the hall, glancing down at her books. The next thing she knew she was on the ground, looking over at the boy she’d walked into. “I’m sorry! I keep knocking- Oh…” The tall boy blushed, pulling Jessie up with one hand. “You’re the girl I knocked over the other day… I’m sorry.” He said, grabbing her book and handing it to her. “No. I should have been looking where I was going… Sorry.” She sighed. “I’m Jessie. In case I run into you again.” “Casey Christos.” Casey said politely. “Where are you going? I’m going to Astrology.” He said a moment later when they both started walking the same direction. “Astrology.” Jessie nodded, walking with him. They walked the rest of the distance to their classroom. “Hello, professor.” Jessie said when they entered the room. Casey shrugged and walked in without a word, though he did manage to tip his hat. Coming from the darkest part of the school, where barely any light came in, was a girl, 5'7, 17 years old, heading to her class. Astrology. It was such a fantastic subject to learn, and she fell in love with it, since it was talking about the many different Zodiacs, and such. She walked alone in the halls, unless her friends were following her without her knowing. She ran up the stairs, pushing people out of her way, so she could get to class. The stairs were crowded, too crowded for her tastes. That is why she was pushing people to get out of her way. She wasn't going just walk slowly until people moved, it was idiotic. It was too nice too.
She hurriedly ran down the hallway, and straight to the classroom. The bow on the side of her hair messed up. She fixed it, with just a bit of magic. She hurried put her wand back in her pocket, and looked around the classroom. She blinked as she saw three students there and the teacher. She held her books with one arm, by her side, and looked around at the desks, then sat in the way back. She didn't care for what the teacher said really, she just wanted to learn more.
---
Rori and Lane were also heading to class, racing each other. "I'm going to get there first," Lane stated. Of course he was sure of it. He played quidditch a lot, and so before every practice, he would run a lot. He didn't say anything about it to his sister though, because then she would probably find a short cut or something. Lane set himself at the staircase, and waited for his sister. "Rori, c'mon, we'll be late."
Then came Rori out the door. She wore her normal school uniform, but didn't care what people though when she was running them. She just laughed and kept running. She stood at the bottom of the staircase, and looked up. "Are you ready?" She asked her brother. Like her brother, she too had been keeping a secret. She had been running in between breaks. She helped out people, and when the breaks had come, she would run.
They both were energetic buggers, who loved to do anything athletic. So running was a peice of cake. They started their race at the sound of a little kid yelling "GO". So they ran fast, as fast they could. It was neck and neck, but Lane was getting tired. Rori wasn't a bit tired. She ran faster, and faster. Soon they made it to the classroom, with Rori as the winner.
"Haha, Lane, you totally-" Rori looked back to classmates, and went wide eyed.
"Smooth, Rori, very smooth." Lane laughed. He knew about the crush she had on Casey. He looked over to Casey, as a matter of fact, and sent him a wave. Rori looked over to Lane and glared at him.
Rori took her seat, by Casey, and smiled. "Hey Case," She said. Lane sat by his sister, just to tease her.

Clover walked down the hall quite quickly, her bag at her side which was filled with quills, books and of course, what she always had, a bar of chocolate. There was a smile on her face as she was very excited for this class to take place. Astrology was one of her three favourite class; the other two being Defence Against the Dark Arts and Care of Magical Creatures. Perhaps she enjoyed these classes since she did so well in them.
She was kind of nervous as she walked today. She was going to a more advanced Astrology class since she was doing so well. She walked down the hall quietly. She hoped she wasn’t the only student being moved up tot his class, she didn’t want to be picked on more than she already was.
She kept thinking of what they’d be doing this class, she was so excited. In her last class they were simply learning of a few of the different positions of the sun and how that effected certain horoscopes but she wanted to learn so much more. Astrology really intrigued her. She laughed lightly to herself at how her brother hated this. He must groan every single time she asks for help from him on Astrology.
It wasn’t his cup o’ tea. She opened her book and was reading a bit as she walked and she then opened the door to the classroom. She hadn’t even noticed Casey so she walked by the two and she sat at one of the desk towards the back of the class. Oh no, her shyness was kicking in once again. She took her seat and was silent, putting her book in front of her and she just kept reading, not moving her gaze at all to look at anything around her.
She grabbed her quill and was nervously tapping it on the edge of the desk, hoping no one she didn’t know would sit beside her. She was actually hoping no one would sit beside her. Maybe this was a bad idea? When her teacher had asked if she wanted be moved up to the next grade of Astrology she was excited but now she wasn’t too sure. She was an outcast in this class. All the students in here would know each other since their first year and she was just a new quiet face. It was weird to be in a class of the same grade as Chris.
She didn’t tell him of this. Not because she didn’t want too, it just kept slipping her mind to tell him. Now that she thought of this she wasn’t too sure whether he would be happy for her or embarrassed a bit that his sister was excelling to the same level as his. She bit her lip and shook her head, refocusing on what she was reading now.

“Hello, professor.”
A young girl in Hufflepuff robes greeted him and Nick smiled at her over his open book. She was a friendly young lady. "Hello young lady," he replied, watching her sit. The boy she had entered with silently took a seat. At least this class wouldn't be too hard to handle. Not that Nickolas couldn't handle a few arrogant, lazy teens; Heck, he had raised two of them.
The room was slowly filling, students quietly filing in. That it, quiet until two younger kids raced into the room, the female saying something to the male in a loud voice. The male said something back but from the front of the room, Nickolas couldn't hear it. Of course, he didn't really need to hear it, the girl looked embaressed. The pair continued to exchange looks even as the girl sat down beside a much older boy. From the sheepish look she gave him, there was something more than friendship on her mind.
Nick whistled at the black bird perched in the rafters. When she ignored him, he whistled again, louder. She cawed back at him but flew down to his extended arm. Winking at Calvin he turned and strolled back to the door to his bedroom. Nick carefully tossed up his arm and watched his pet find her perch on the wall before he closed the door. She was not the safest bird to be around.
Another girl entered, quiet as the first boy after Calvin. She sat near the back, never taking her eyes off the book in front of her.
Nickolas looked away from the students he didn't know and looked at his brother. Calvin was busy staring at the door, obviously occupied waiting for someone to show up. No came in within the next few minutes and Nick sighed. He would have to start class. Nickolas ran a hand through his thick, brown hair as he stood. The hair was left in this new, awkward position as Nick began walking toward his podium. When the man cleared his throat, Calvin turned to look at him and accidently let out a quiet snort. Nick focused in on his brother, raising an eyebrow. Calvin ran a hand through his hair and then pointed up at Nick's head. The elder understood and smoothed down his hair. He winked at his brother in thanks.
"Class will begin. I am new so be nice. My name is Nickolas James, call me Mr. James or Nickolas," Nickolas announced, glancing around the room. His confidence had raised only slightly but he wasn't showing a bit of that to the students. He smiled to each of the kids. They didn't look too enthused about being here but that was alright. Calvin and Lucian hadn't ever been happy to get extra chores yet Nick had made sure they did it anyway.
"I believe you left off last semester with the moon's effects on the horoscopes. I want to start with a quick review and then we'll go into the personality aspects of the horoscopes." He turned and moved the podium a few feet so he was in the middle of the room. "Alright, who can tell me which moon phase--"
+++
Erin ran through the halls, pushing past people as she ran toward the fifth floor. She had over slept. Bad idea on your first day back to classes. Her blue skirt was flowing behind her, the little bit of material that was there, but luckily her robes covered anything the boys might have been interested in. Her book fell to the floor, resulting in a cry of pain rather than a thump. Erin stopped and turned, running right into the Ravenclaw that had just been stopped by a projectile book.
"I am so sorry, David!" She said, scooping up her book and stepping back away from him. He winced once more, putting his foot back on the ground delicatly.
"Don't worry about it, Erin." He smiled helpfully and walked up beside her. "We better get to class, hm?"
They were close to the room anyway so it wasn't much of a walk for the injured David. He tried to hide the hobbling but it didn't matter, Erin was busy throwing open the door to the Astronomy room. The professor looked back in surprise. He must have been lecturing. David quietly slipped behind Erin and took a seat in the back corner.
Erin was a little slower to assess the situation. She looked around the room, registering who was there. She smiled, a fellow female sitting alone. She whispered sorry as she passed Calvin, who had been glaring at the intrusion. He nodded and turned his glare to David who ignored him. Erin sat her things down on the table and sat down beside Clover.
"Glad you could join us," Nick said, a small bit of his patience flitting out the door.

"Hello young lady," the professor replied. Jessie smiled back, she liked him already. But there was Calvin, standing, there… why did he look so much as if he were related to the Professor? Jessie sat swiftly, Casey gave her a funny look and sat beside her. Calvin was friends with Oliver, Jessie was afraid of Oliver. Casey absolutely positively disliked Oliver. What was a good word for that? Abhor. Sure. What was a good word for their relationship? Bad. Casey wanted nothing to do with Oliver. But he had excluded Calvin from that equation, luckily. Had he not, there might have been an uncomfortable silence. As of that moment, there was silence, but Casey found it all but uncomfortable.
“So, um… Jessie?” Casey asked, taking a moment to recall his acquaintance’s name. She turned to him, “You are alright, correct?”
“Alright?” She asked, tilting her head to the side a bit. “I’m… fine. What-… oh, honestly, it didn’t hurt that much.” She said, rolling her eyes as she realized he was referring to their collision. “So… why do those two looks alike, you know?”
“They-“ Casey began to explain. Because he actually knew the reason. But as he started he heard running, and laughing. He recognized that laugh. He turned around to see his friend, Rori.
“Haha, Lane, you totally-” She strolled, eyes wide. She must have been racing Lane, Casey grinned, they seemed to do that a lot. She seemed to have won, he was happy for her. But then Lane laughed,
“Smooth, Rori, very smooth.” said Lane. Casey glanced at his table, it was pretty smooth. Running was an important part of being a spy. Perhaps not the running, but the ability to run. And the ability to do cool tricks, he supposed. Rori waved at him, he tipped his hat at her.
A moment later Casey found himself sitting between two girls. Not something that usually happened. But of course, Rori was a friend, and Jessie was an acquaintance who he was determined to make a friend, but hey, they were still girls. And actually, they were both 5th years, also something that didn’t happen- and Hufflepuffs. He blinked, what did they know each other or something?
“Jessie, you know, Rori?” He asked. Jessie nodded. They did share a room after all.
“Hey Case,” Rori said. Casey turned to smile at her, noticing Lane sitting on her other side. Girl, boy, girl, boy. He shrugged.
“How’re you-…” His voice trailed off. There walked Clover, she was as far in the back as she wanted to be. Shrinking into herself again, he groaned. He would have gotten up and marched back to her, probably picking her up and placing her in the seat beside him, but those two were occupied. As he stared at her Jessie gave Rori a quick wave. Why was Clover so reclusive? Casey gave her a look of disapproval, obviously she hadn’t noticed him, so nothing could be done about that.
“Class will begin.” Oh would it? Fine, Casey should stop disapproving of Clover back there. Jessie didn’t know Clover, but she was pretty sure she wouldn’t be all that happy about the sigh Casey had just let out. She looked up at her new favorite professor. Not that that was saying a whole lot, she didn’t have a lot of favored professors. Carlotta was inane, Michael was… Amanda was brave and cool, but she had broken down, and also, she hadn’t spoken to Jessie, this one had. Tyron was distracted, Kristina taught Herbology, Bradly was nice but not that awesome, Stephanie wasn’t a teacher, and she was freaky anyway. This teacher was nice to her, therefore… he was cool.
“I am new so be nice. My name is Nickolas James, call me Mr. James or Nickolas,” Mr. James? Mr. James? Oh… so that was it. They were related. Brothers, Jessie supposed. Casey might have known that, but he’d been interrupted by Jessie’s roommate, so it was excusable that he hadn’t told her. Perhaps she should have known? Oh well.
“I believe you left off last semester with the moon’s effects on the horoscopes. I want to start with a quick review and then we’ll go into the personality aspects of the horoscopes.” Jessie sat up a tiny bit straighter. She was a Leo, yeah, basically. Lions were cats, Jessie liked cats, it worked out in the end. “Alright, who can tell me which moon phase—” Jessie could! Probably! She wouldn’t raise her hand though, goodness she hated doing that little thing.
"Glad you could join us," Mr. James said, after Erin Arthur burst through the door. David seemed to be limping to the back, Jessie watched him carefully. What happened to him? She shrugged, turning back to the front. Casey, on the other hand, watched Erin. She sat beside Clover, good.

Maria gave the new teacher a look. A strange look. Once he had stated the lesson of which they would be learning, she didn't a triumphant pump of the arm, in the air. She quickly threw her hand down, and it hit the desk. "Damnit." She said softly, looking down at the desk, holding her wrist, blushing terrible. How she made a fool of herself.
She looked up, with the red still on her face. "Sorry Professor," She said. She knew she was disrupting the class, but maybe none of them heard her, or just were ignoring her, it was nice to know if they were though. She was so excited for the class though. She didn't mean to cause a disruption for it. She bit her lip hard and kept her mouth shut, still very very embarrassed for the loudness and distraction just caused.
---
Rori looked to where Casey was looking. "I could move, if you want me to," She whispered to him, knowing she was okay with it. She looked over to Jesse, though, and waved slowly. "Hey there." Rori was about to get up, but then class had begun to start, and she looked back at Clover again, and saw Erin with her. The professor began to introduce himself. She looked over to Lane, who had seemed to look bored out of his skull. She rolled his eyes, and began to focus once again, but yet another distraction caught her eye. Casey. She wanted to smack herself, make herself get attention again, but didn't want to cause a distraction. She then remembered that Bethany was in a different class, and man did Rori miss her. Bethany was like a close friend of Rori's, like a sister even. But Bethany had other things to do then just be in this class with Rori.
---
Into the mind of Lane, how scary, right? No, it really isn't. His mind is one of the less complicated. All he was thinking was boredom. He looked over at his sister, and then at the teacher as the class began. He sighed. Why didn't he just skip if all the teacher was gonna do was talk about himself, and the girl that was late. Not that he cared at all, he'd rather sleep. Sitting in a desk with his sister, and in the table next to there's was Casey, Rori would be entertained, and Lane would sleep, peice of cake, no? Well, Lane couldn't fall asleep, so he just spaced out, and nothing of which the teacher said, went through his ears.

Clover looked around to the other students. The class wasn’t that big so she was grateful that it wouldn’t be very loud. As she looked back, she noticed Casey and jumped a bit, getting even shyer. She turned back around quickly, keeping her head down in the book.
She kept her head down but listened to what the new teacher was saying. "I believe you left off last semester with the moon's effects on the horoscopes. I want to start with a quick review and then we'll go into the personality aspects of the horoscopes. Alright, who can tell me which moon phase--" She was listening to the question intently and it clicked in her mind as soon as he finished. Her hand instantly shot up before anyone else’s. She lowered it a bit quickly, getting really shy again.
She felt Erin sit down beside her and she looked at her confused. No one ever came out of the blue and sat beside her. She was confused then thought, maybe this was her table and Clover accidentally took her spot. Not wanting to interrupt Mr. James, she whispered to Erin. “I’m sorry; I didn’t mean to take your spot.” She said, quickly grabbing her books and things and she was moving to the table behind this one, the one at the very back of the class.
She sighed, looking up to the front of the class to where the board was with a couple drawings of moon phases and she squinted a bit. Shoot. She thought in her head. I can’t see from this far. She sat there though anyway quietly and really hoped that the teacher wouldn’t call on her to sit closer to the class.
She had one or two teachers mention that she may need glasses but she didn’t want any. She didn’t think them nerdy or anything, she just didn’t want them at all. They already said though that if she got a third warning then they’d have to tell Chris and she knew her brother would force her to get some. She was having a bad morning so far. She rummaged her hands in her book bag and there was a paper there that the nurses at the hospital wing always had her give to her new teachers.
She had seen sheets that resembled this back in the muggle high schools. They were a lot like medical alert sheets. It basically spoke on there that Clover gets sick easily and a lot so to be prepared for her to not be in his class. There were several more things like what to do if she collapsed in class, etc. She sighed, hating being made as a ‘special case’ and she hated the way people treated her after they found out she was sick like she was. They treated her like glass all the time, like she would break if anyone touched her.

Being late was never a thing Ellendie Flor has done, or been known for. She was always prompt and on time with everything she did. And now, well, since last night she spent a good deal wide awake thinking about someone... someone that seems to have caught her eye and didn't have the name 'Ike', she over slept. Her alarm went off as usual, giving her enough time to do her hair and get dressed, but little Elle slept right through it as if she was completely deaf. It wasn't until some girl who was just about to leave for breakfast looked over and saw Elle lying there still, did she wake up. The little freckled, red hair girl walked up and poked her a few times, and then shook her awake. Elle gargled something unclear and looked around. Realizing she was really late she through herself out of bed. The red haired girl grinned and turned around without a word.
"Noo! I can't be late!" She mumbled running around looking for her things, which apparently like to run and hide when you are in a mid crisis. She finally found her brush, where it normally laid (on her dresser) and brushed her hair as she was trying to find her robes. After brushing her blonde hair, and her teeth, she dressed in her Ravenclaw robes and did her hair in a low side pony tail with thick curls, and a bit of layering sticking out with some curl to them. She slipped on her gold dangly wing earings and her navey blue slip on shoes with a little bow on. She grabbed her books as the bell for classes was ringing. She checked herself in the mirror one last time hoping she looked decent and then walked out.
She thought she had time to walk to class but the realization that her class was on the complete different side of the castle. She picked up her speed but before she thought she was there, the tone went off and she was rushing again down the hall. Her heart was beating her breath was going faster then ever and then all of a sudden, as soon as she had the door in her sights, she was flying in the air. Everything stopped to her. Her heart, her breath, her legs, everything but the gravity that was pulling her towards the stone hard floor. Her chest hit the ground and there was a loud 'oof' let out from her lungs as they got smashed. Her books flew towards the door somewhere, and papers were skewn everywhere.
For a few seconds Elle just laid there hoping her dignity would clime back into her and she could get up, but it only got worse from there. There was a low chuckle coming from behind her. She lifted her head and looked back to see Oliver Spence leaned against the wall with his foot sticking out at the perfect angle to trip a little Ravenclaw girl. Her eyes narrowed and his narrowed back at her in a mocking way, "Deed you do zat?" she snapped.
He grinned, "Oh I deed."
She rolled so she was on her back and she got up to stand, "You 'ave to be keeding. I 'ave never done anyzing to you."
Knowing Oliver all you really have to do is look at him the wrong way and he is all over you like a sack of potatoes. (idk but it came to my head) "But you are probably the most desperate girl in the school." He grinned that beautiful twisted grin.
Elle took a step back as if he had slapped her across the face. She stared at him, and turned to get her books. She was not going to start a huge battle in the middle of the hall. She was getting over him, wasn't she?
"Sore spot?" He teased. She heard his footsteps trail behind her. He got close as she bent down, and Elle gritted her teeth.
She grabbed her books and turned around, "Eet ees none of your buisness! So what eef I was going out weez Ike? At least I experienced love for once! i bet you 'aven't even gotten close to ze idea." Her eyes were turning a slight black.
Oli tensed up and put his fists into a ball, "That is out of line."
"Really? Were you out of line when you treeped me? Or 'ow about making fun of my love life?" She pushed at him, but he didn't move at all, only tightened up.
"You think your little black eyes scare me?" His voice rose and his whole body started shaking with anger, as if he was holding something back.
"No," she said defiantly as if she had won some battle by making him get angry. She turned around with her head held high and her books pressed against her chest. She could take care of herself. She opened the class door and fixed her hair a bit with one hand, and quickly changed her black eyes to the happy blue. But nothing could hide that redness to her cheeks from anger and the slight glorious look about her. "Sorry for being late, I treepped."
------
That girl is going to get herself killed. She has no idea who she is messing with... Oliver stood there, still so angery that his body was trembling. OHe moved stiffly into class and his eyes stayed right on Elle who was seating herself somewhere in the middle. He gritted his teeth and narrowed them tightly to Cal letting him know he was very close to changing.
He moved to the middle of the room, took a few deep breath, plopped himself noisly in a seat, and put his feet right on Elle's desk, just to get her a little more edged then she was.

Erin shifted around in her chair, making herself as comfortable as possible given the situation. She smiled at the girl beside her, happy to have company during the class. Erin bent over to the side, dragging out her book with as much obvious reluctance as possible. But as she sat back up her new friend appeared to be piling her things in preperation to move. She tilted her head, widening her eyes at the girl.
“I’m sorry; I didn’t mean to take your spot.”
Erin's mouth dropped open as she watched the girl move to the table behind her. She made a quiet noise, unsuccessfully conveying her disbelief.
"Hey, hey. Get back up here. I want to sit by you." She huffed and scooted to the other table where she sternly told the girl, "Don't move again." She nodded for emphasis before proceeding to crack open her book and find the page that had been written on the chalkboard.
Nickolas looked at the girl with slight apprehension. She took her time situating herself in the back while the silent boy who had entered behind her had simply found a seat and taken out paper and a pen. And now the girl she had sat by moved back a row and was quickly followed. Nick calmly folded his arms across his chest, staring at them without speaking. As they quieted and stopped moving, he spoke.
"Comfortable ladies? Maybe I can get you a La-z-boy for tomorrow, hm?" He sighed as he was interupted agian.
Is it really nescisary for students to enter by pairs? One girl and one boy. Each time. I swear... Nick's thoughts trailed off when the girl spoke up, giving her excuse.
"Sorry for being late, I treepped."
He nodded, hoping she and the boy behind her would take the hint and sit. They both made their way to the center of the room, the boy exchanging a quick but angry look with Calvin. Nickolas tried to meet his brother's eyes but Calvin was occupied. The French girl took a seat at an empty table, Calvin's friend making sure everyone knew he was frusterated and he was sitting against his will. Nick could put up with the interuptions a few minutes into class but feet on the table was too much.
"Young man, I realize you feel no guilt at interupting my class but I am afraid you are just going to have to accept that I am in charge. You will cease your distractions and leave this young woman alone." During his short lecture, Nickolas had paced ever closer to the boy with his feet propped. Calvin felt the need to help his brother. He swiftly leaned over and jabbed his friend in the side, adding a strict do-it-now glare.
Assuming that his brother could control his friend's behavior, Nickolas turned and walked back to the front of the room.
"Now that class has begun," he said, "I believe the young lady in the back raised her hand. Now, Ms--" He paused for her before continuing. "Did you have a question or an answer to my question? Because if it was the latter, I suggest you wait for me to finish. You will then be given the chance to answer. Can you accept that?"
Nickolas knew he was being harsh but you had to establish your authority early, especially with teenagers. He sighed, not wanting to be the "mean" teacher.
The man moved toward the chalkboard, erasing the page number he had written and writting it higher up. He then proceeded to write all of the horoscopes in a column, beginning with Aquarius. He took in a breath as he turned, lowering his hands to his pants pockets. Nick's grey eyes moved around the room, taking a glance at each student.
"Who can tell me what the beginning and ending dates are for the horoscopes? You don't have to tell me all of them, just pick the one or ones you know."

Casey gave careful consideration to his hat. Should he remove it? He’d been chastised in the past for not removing his hat, he supposed they must think that he would simply stop wearing it if he got dirty looks every single day. They were obviously wrong, proof being that he still wore his hat every day. It was his hat, and he was never without it, except the few horrible occasions that he attempted to block out.
“I could move, if you want me to,” Rori suggested, Casey gave her a smile and replied,
“I want my friends as close as possible. It’s a good policy.” He whispered back. Jessie smiled when Rori greeted her. Casey glanced back in time to see Clover moving to another seat, and Erin following her, looking indignant. Casey grinning, remembering the party where Erin had asked him to dance, it was amusing, especially since she left not a minute later to go talk to another boy. But at least Erin was pursuing Clover; it was good that someone would watch out for her… even if it was forcibly, she needed that sometimes.
The teacher spoke up “Comfortable ladies?” Casey’s eyes shot back to the front of the class, noting Jessie’s supplies in perfect order as she listened intently. “Maybe I can get you a La-z-boy for tomorrow, hm?” Mr. James remarked, Casey glanced down at the table, he didn’t particularly like this man. He was getting onto Erin because Clover was too anti-social, that’s how he saw it.
Jessie on the other hand, still liked Mr. James. He acknowledged her presence, plus he wasn’t being that hard. They shouldn’t have caused a problem. Had it been her friends, she would have been more upset, but they weren’t. Erin had drug her off shopping, but otherwise she didn’t know either of them overly well, both older girls, not that she knew the majority of the ones her own age either way.
“Sorry for being late, I treepped.” Jessie didn’t move her face but let her eyes roll over to the late French girl. Ellendie Flor, pretty, charismatic, but late. Jessie blinked, the last part just didn’t seem right. But Mr. James’ first class just seemed to like being late, apparently.
Then walked in Oliver Spence, Jessie scooted forward just an inch, feeling a bit weary of the boy making eye contact with Calvin. It took her a few moments to notice Casey. He was tense, and both fists were in his lap, eyes forward. It was beyond Jessie what might have caused the formerly laid back eighteen year old to react like that.
“Young man, I realize you feel no guilt at interrupting my class but I am afraid you are just going to have to accept that I am in charge.” Jessie heard the teacher saying, walking back to Oliver. Casey snorted quietly, Oliver didn’t accept things, he made things change until he was happy, or everyone else was miserable, which in turn made him happy. “You will cease your distractions and leave this young woman alone.” Another thing Oliver Spence didn’t do, leave people alone.
Mr. James returned to the chalkboard, resuming his attempt at teaching a lesson for the day, “Now that class has begun, I believe the young lady in the back raised her hand. Now, Ms—” He paused for emphasis, although Casey couldn’t imagine why. “Did you have a question or an answer to my question? Because if it was the latter, I suggest you wait for me to finish.” Casey resisted a desire to scowl. Good spies held in their emotion, no one ever knew what they really felt or thought, Casey should adopt that principle. They also kept friends distant… he’d think that one over later. He really didn’t like this man a whole lot, did he simply feel the need to embarrass the girl? Honestly? She was passionate about the subject, enough to raise her hand… and he was shooting her down. “You will then be given the chance to answer. Can you accept that?”
Rhetorical questions were pointless, as far as Casey could tell. Give people a chance to speak their minds, why not? Don’t ask if you don’t want an answer, it was inane. And what if she couldn’t accept it? He perced his lips and then returned his face to one of complete serenity.
“Who can tell me what the beginning and ending dates are for the horoscopes? You don’t have to tell me all of them, just pick the one or ones you know.”
Jessie wasn’t about to move, so Casey raised his hand. Waiting the appropriate amount of time for Nickolas to call upon him he put in his little comment, “Well, Cancer initiates on the 21st of June, and concludes on the 22nd of July, which sets off Leo, which concludes on the 23rd of August.” Casey cared less than a grant amount about how he’d phrased his answer, it was there, he’d done his part and now he felt a need to go back to clenching his fists in his lap, being far to close to the most insufferable person he’d ever met.
