A single set of footsteps quietly raced out of the Common Room and pushed past the portrait hole. Those footsteps then raced to the library quickly as silently as they could now. Jude held his wand in front of him, a small glow of light shining from the tip of it.
He had sent the letter earlier for David and Chris to meet him in the library. They were going to search now for something to help Clover. It was pitch black inside of the school so why was it that Jude picked late at night to go to the library.
Of course it would have been fine to go during the morning except for the fact that the book they'd need would be in the Restricted Section.
He made his way into the library now and crossed several shelves of books to stand directly in front of the gate of the restricted section. This was where the book they'd need would be. He held a book in his hand and flicked his wand with the new spell he had learned and the lock on the gate clicked open.
He pushed the door quickly and acidentally sounded a loud screech when he pushed the iron gate. He cursed himself at the loud sound and stood still, listening for any unwanted footsteps coming.
He placed his wand against the edges of the books and looked at the titles. "Where is it?" He whispered to himself, looking around frantically. He did not know the exact name of the book but it had something in the title of potions and deep magic.
He wondered where David and Chris were and this made him nervous. What if they weren't going to help him. He shook his head and sighed deeply.

[[Tell me if I need to change this, okies?]]
David had been on his bed. The long hand of his clock was creeping toward the 12 as the smaller one skipped toward the 11. So, naturally, he was laying back against his pillow with an American novel, a faint light emitting from his wand that his dorm mates had graciously allowed him to keep on when they went to bed. His finger was turning over a page to continue with what Thomas Hunter was saying just as another paper pulled itself through the crack in his open window and lay itself over what David was trying to read. He looked at the words on the page.
Chris and I will meet you in the Restricted Section as soon as you get this note so we can find a cure for Clover.
The writter had helpfully forgotten to scratch his name at the bottom but there was only one other boy aside from the girl's brother himself that cared enough about her to be this compelled to find a solution. Jude Emmet.
It was well known, at least to the rumor collector/Head Boy, that Chris Asher did, in no way, like Jude Emmet. He had proved it when the latter recieved a fist to the face. David had suggested that the three of them get together to help Clover and Jude had agreed. But neither boy had yet approached Chris. Or so David thought. But maybe the fact that Jude had written that "Chris and I" would meet him at the library meant that the two had reconciled to benefit the girl.
Satisfied with his conclusion, David settled back into his bed to finish his chapter. There were only 5 pages left and he could get them read in no time. Jude could wait.
When David finally closed the book over the strip of leather he used as a bookmark, he wrapped a black cotton jacket over his red t-shirt and changed his cotton sleeping shorts for a pair of light jeans. He still hadn't heard anyone walk past the open door to his dorm. Since his room was closer to the exit than was Chris's, the fact worried David. Had Chris recieved the note? After a few minutes consideration, he decided that Chris was clever enough to make his steps silent so he wouldn't wake anyone up. He was probably already down in the library arguing with Jude. Arguing. David pulled on his moccasin-like slippers and moved as quickly as he could out into the hallway without making noise.
---
Being a normal Ravenclaw was easy for Beau. He may have graduated but he was still into his routine of scoping out the library late into the night. On this particular night, his curiousity had taken him over to the non-fictions on the topic of muggle wars. From this position, it hadn't taken him long to react and travel to the source of the loud screech of metal. The gate to the Restricted Section was swumg open and a faint light was coming from the middle of the closed room, enough light to descern the form of a young boy.
Antony didn't make a habit of following his master around the library at night. This night was no exception. He had been laying on the plush blue rug by the kitchen table when the opened door made him growl. He rose and stalked out to the Restricted Section, making full use of the doggie door Beau had created for him. There was a boy in the locked room. The greyhound didn't need eyes for that deduction. He lowered his head and growled, a warning to the intruder to leave the dog's domain.
Beau heard the low snarl only a second after he had seen the boy. He stood, picturing the teeth the boy would see if he turned the light of his wand to the dog. Antony could get very protective of the library. It was handy sometimes to have the dog around. Tonight for instance. Sure Beau could handle it himself easily but sometimes it was fun just to see how students reacted to the "guard dog" if they didn't know Beau had a Greyhound. Of course, if this sneaky boy was a Ravenclaw, he would know Antony well and it wouldn't be difficult to get the dog bounding over to him with a wagging tail. Hopefully this boy was not a Ravenclaw.

Jude had been so focused on searching for the book that he had not even heard someone else was in the library. He traced his fingers along the books still but no luck. He sighed deeply, he hoped the two would come soon as he needed help.
There were so many books and they were divided into so many smaller sections that t was hard to figure out where it would be under.
Suddenly, when he heard a snarl he froze, his spine stiffening. He didn't want to look as his hand slightly shook on a book. Slowly and carefully, he turned to see the source of it and he saw a set of pointed canine teeth snarling at him. He froze, his face white as snow and he didn't blink, just stared at the dog.
When he heard the dog growl once more he jumped and dropped his wand, the light shining against the dog's face. This made Jude even more scared and he slipped to the ground, immediately curling into a small ball in the corner of the shelf and putting hish ead down. He put his arms around his head and especially his ears to shield himself. He was completely terrified to the bone.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hey Judey!" One boy smirked at him. He shoved Jude against the fence at Jude's house and he swallowed nervously. The bigger of the two laughed as the other put his hands through Jude's pockets, taking some of his money. Jude was merely the age of nine and so were the two other boys.
"Pl-Please leave me alone..." Jude said nervously as he was still shoved against the wall. Jude got irritated and threw a punch at the boy taking his money.
"Oh, he's fighting back now." One laughed. "Come here Dioghe!" Jude looked as a large gray dog ran towards them, growling and snarling. The dog had seen Jude punch its owner and was furious. They let the dog lose on him and Jude curled to the ground, the dog's sharp pointed teeth piercing against his hands and onto his ears sharply. Jude cried loudly for his mother, screaming and eventually the neighbours came by and pulled the dog off the traumatized boy. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jude kept shaking in the library, all of these memories forcing their way back into his mind. The memory was so clear that he felt the teeth tearing against his skin to the point where he let out small yelps, shaking to the bone.

Beau's eyes saw the boy shake and fall to the ground, curling himself into a ball and covering his head. It was as if he was being tortured. Beau's heart rate shot up and he pushed his fingers into his mouth and gave a sharp whistle. Antony's voice went silent and Beau heard a light thump as the dog sat down in the light. The librarian walked over to the dog, patting his head as he went past into the Restricted Section.
The boy was still in the fetal position with extra protection around his head when Beau knelt down. He put a hand lightly on the boy's shoulder.
"Are you okay? Antony wouldn't have bit you." Without much of a response, Beau turned and told the Greyhound to go back to the bedroom. Antony whined and tried to crawl forward but Beau gave him a heavy "No" and he trotted back into the other room. "I am sorry. Here, stand up," he said, trying to pull up on Jude's arm.
----
The halls had been quiet. No students other than the Head Boy himself had been out past curfew when David had shuffled them all into the common rooms.
The library door was cracked open. David pushed it open farther and stepped in, leaving the moonlight to shine through. There was a growl and then a whistle and the noise stopped. David paused. The librarian had a dog. If there was a whistle and a growl it meant the dog was out with his master in the library. The Ravenclaw knew the librarian well from 8 years of sharing the school with Beau. You could call them friends.
A light click and swish to his right eased David's anxiety and he walked farther into the room. There was a faint light from the back, a wand on the ground. It faded as its connection with its master faded.
Lumos maxima, David thought, pulling out his wand. The tip lit and he saw Beau bent back in the corner of the Restricted Section over another boy. Jude. He moved forward quickly, also kneeling down.
"I am sorry. Here, stand up." Beau was pulling Jude up, but trying to be careful and getting no where. David grabbed Jude's other arm and pulled up. Between them they moved Jude over to the circle of chairs and set him down.
" 'Lo, David. Nice night." David formed a faint grin and looked down at Jude. Beau followed his gaze. "You two have permission?" he asked.
"No Beau, we don't." Beau nodded as if he were about to say he was sorry but they had to go.
"Right, well, I'll stay until you get him functional and I get an answer from both of you as to why you are here."
David gave him a thankful smile and nodded. "That is fair. Thanks, Beau."
The librarian took a few steps to the side and settled himself into a chair on Jude's left. David folded his arms across his chest and sank down into one across from Jude.

"Are you okay? Antony wouldn't have bit you." Jude heard Beau whisper to him. Jude was frozen stiff, trying to collect his mind again and relax. He didn't respond Beau as he still shook. He was greatful to hear Beau send the dog back to the bedroom.
"I am sorry. Here, stand up,"[/u] he said, trying to pull up on Jude's arm. He then heard David come in and take hold of Jude's other arm, moving him into a chair.
He heard Beau asking if they had permission and Jude slightly rocked himself back and forth for a moment or two, keeping his eyes shut as he tried to calm himself and relax. Biting his lip, he breathed in sharply over and over, squeezing the edge of his jeans.
Finally after some time his normal breathing had returned and he had managed to open his eyes to look at the two. "T-Thanks..." He said nervously, shaking every now and then. He was not fully relaxed as his shoulders were still tensed up and he was still squeezing his jeans.
He was greatful to see David now but where was Chris? What if he did not come. Surely he would put his hatred for Jude aside and realize that Clover needed them. Jude knew that Chris was a good guy and an amazing brother to Clover, surely he would come.

Chris was asleep. For all the commotion elsewhere in the castle, he was sound asleep. He didn’t even notice when a bit of paper landed on his chest. He didn’t move an inch.
Casey, on the other hand, starred. Chris is such a bonehead sometimes, He thought to himself. Perhaps some people might think sleeping didn’t make you a bonehead, but Casey disagreed. At least in this case. He glanced at the note, deciding swiftly that if anyone would risk it to send Christopher Asher a note in the first place, then it must be important. Chris would have to wake up.
“Asher, Asher!” Casey hissed, shaking Chris roughly, but quietly enough not to wake the other students. Chris opened his eyes slowly.
“Christos… leave me alone.” He mumbled, closing his eyes again. That is, until Casey bopped him on the forehead, then his eyes were wide open. “What?!” he demanded. Casey merely pushed the note into his hand and said,
“It just landed on you.” He returned to his bed, snuggling under the covers, if you could call it snuggling, and opened his book. It was large, and Chris could have sworn he read the word “Webster” on the side of it. He scanned the note.
Something, something, clover, help, Library, David, something, tonight. Yay. That’s just what everyone wants to wake up to. Another reminder that their baby sister in lying in the hospital wing. Dying. He crumpled up the note and put it on his pillow and he stepped onto the cold floor. He didn’t care about the cold, not much at least, but he was quickly to pull on some socks and black slipper things. He didn’t give his royal blue PJ pants a glance, they were fine for late night excursions, or so he’d decided. He did add a white t-shirt to his apparel, but that was about it.
He grabbed the note before he left, holding it tightly in his fist. If something went wrong, he wanted proof that Jude had requested his arrival. He was fairly cynical when he was tired, and he was very tired. So much so, that he tripped on a stair, falling down the next three. He mumbled some things then looked up, there is was. The library. He dusted himself off, now far more awake from the pain, pain can be good like that sometimes.
Once he reached the restricted section, without a sound mind you, he had spent quite some time in the restricted section, he saw the threesome. He could identify Jude, looking quite upset, David, being David, and… Beau. Oh great, the librarian? He wasn’t supposed to be there. Chris wasn’t in the mood to get in trouble, but if they wanted his help helping Clover, he wouldn’t be down there if he hadn’t agreed.
“Having a party, Jude? I thought we were researching?” Chris asked, his slightly unserious question didn’t sound all that cheerful. He was fairly certain it had come across as tired, and a bit curious, but he wasn’t really all that sure.

"T-Thanks..."
Jude was finally looking up at the pair of Ravenclaws. Every now and again, his body would give a tremor. The boy's hands were clutching his jeans like they were his only link to life. Beau let the corners of his mouth fall down to a small frown. Antony had done more than scare this poor boy, Jude, as he now recognized him.
"I'm sorry Antony scared you," Beau whispered from Jude's side. He had stood and taken the few necissary steps to crouch beside the Gryffindor's chair. "Are you alrig--"
“Having a party, Jude? I thought we were researching?”
Chris Asher had finally come to the scene of the crime... if you could call scaring a teenage boy a crime. Whether you do or don't, this is what Chris had come to.
David stood at the voice, recognizing it immediatly as the voice of the third of their group. Beau had taken the chance to look up at Chris and was staring as if he couldn't believe it.
"Maybe one of you should tell me why you are here after hours..." he said, giving them a "helpful suggestion."
The older student walked up toward Chris, patting his shoulder before turning to look at the librarian. "We are trying to find a cure for Clover. Jude thought we could meet tonight in the Restricted Section because he wasn't sure if the professors would give us an admission note for our purpose." He looked at Beau with a perfectly calm expression. David wasn't sure if this was the reason Jude had called them to the library on this night to search the Restricted Section without permission but he had a pretty good idea. After all, it was his job to know things.
Beau nodded understandingly, pulling himself up with slight help from the arm of Jude's chair.
"Well, if you think you two can handle Mr. Emmet here, I'll go back to my room. Close the door when you're done." He smiled and started back to his room, locking the dog door closed from the outside before Antony could redamage the poor Gryffindor. "I am sure with you two Ravenclaws, you can find what you need but let me know if you need help finding anything." He winked and pulled his bedroom door closed behind him.
David turned back to the other two. He refolded his arms across his chest. The boy simply looked at the pair with carefully gauged concern and warning. He did so for only a few seconds before turning and striding to the open Restricted Section.

Jude stared merely ahead for quite some time still squeezing the leg of his pant.
"I'm sorry Antony scared you,"[/b] Beau whispered from Jude's side. He didn't really turn his head but felt the librarian crouch beside his chair. "Are you alrig--"[/b]
He then heard someone cut across Beau's word quite quickly. “Having a party, Jude? I thought we were researching?”[/b]
Jude frowned slightly. Chris was right. They were losing track of what was important. A cure for Clover. He gradually stopped squeezing his leg and finally turned his head silently to look at everyone but he did not speak a word.
"Maybe one of you should tell me why you are here after hours..."[/b] Something built in Jude's stomach and he had this feeling now. Oh no, they were either going to get kicked out of the library or told about how they're is no hope in saving Clover now. He was used to it from students but he did not like to hear it from teachers.
Jude watched David walk over to Chris and then speak. "We are trying to find a cure for Clover. Jude thought we could meet tonight in the Restricted Section because he wasn't sure if the professors would give us an admission note for our purpose." [/b] Jude did have to respect David for saying the truth but he was worried about it now worse than ever. But when he saw Beau nod understandably, that tension in his stomach was released.
"Well, if you think you two can handle Mr. Emmet here, I'll go back to my room. Close the door when you're done." Jude waited a bit before getting up and following after David into the Restricted Section. He shook and jumped every now and then thinking that he heard a dog bark but there was nothing there. He ignored it all and looked quite, searching for a book that could help.

Chris seemed to have interrupted the librarian. Beau. Not a friend. But not an enemy. Which was more than it seemed Chris could say about a lot of people. Chris was guilty of book browsing, as were all Ravenclaws, except maybe Casey. Casey either had a secret library under his bed, bought books off the black market nearly every day, or snuck into the library at some late hour of the night, because Chris had never seen him set foot in the premise of the library. He always just had the required books.
"Maybe one of you should tell me why you are here after hours...” Suggested Beau. Chris blinked. Blinking was Chris’ form of scowling… during the late hours. He didn’t plan on getting in trouble, really. He came for his sister. He had the best reason of all to be there. Jude, Chris conceded with a clenched jaw, was trying to help his crush. But who knows why David agreed to come. He was apparently a nice guy… but he had no attachment to Clover. Oh… except for that whole kissing her things. Chris blood got a little hotter. Had he been there, not for the kiss, but for the threat afterwards… he’d have two noses broken in his resume. As it was, Chris was only annoyed.
Speaking of David, he walked toward Chris. He patted Chris’s shoulder and turned to Beau, “We are trying to find a cure for Clover. Jude thought we could meet tonight in the Restricted Section because he wasn't sure if the professors would give us an admission note for our purpose."
Oh. That’s what it was? Chris just thought Jude took pleasure in disturbing Chris sleep as often as possible. Well, Chris had his own way with teachers. And for the amount of time he spent in the hospital wing, and the good grades he got, he was nearly positive he could have gotten a pass, if for nothing better than, “Helping the poor dear feel like he’s able to do something.”
"Well, if you think you two can handle Mr. Emmet here, I'll go back to my room. Close the door when you're done. I am sure with you two Ravenclaws, you can find what you need but let me know if you need help finding anything.” Beau said, leaving the three to their work. David took the chance and went into the restricted area, soon followed by Jude. And quickly enough, Chris.
“Um… What was wrong with Jude back- And why are you twitching?” Chris asked, raising an eye brow at the random jerk coming from his companion. He waited for the answer to his question, while tracing a finger across the volumes of books, attempting to find anything he hadn’t already tried to read in hopes of curing Clover.

David let himself sink into the quietness of the library, now empty save for the three determined boys. He sighed and closed his eyes briefly, letting his fingers trail absently over the edge of the shelf. Beau had dusted recently... or a detention student had dusted recently. Either way, the shelves were free of the particles. His mind was free; free to explore into each of the pages of the books professors of the past and present had deemed not appropriate for everyday purposes, and for good reason. As David's finger brushed lightly against the spine of one book, it flew backwards at him and fell just short of his now wide eyes, held back by the chain attached to its binding. He staggered back against the cold metal chain wall. David looked to his left to see if the other two had noticed but apparently Chris had started to say something just as the book decided David needed to be attacked.
“--are you twitching?” David was silent for a few seconds, trying to decide if it was worth asking Chris what he had said before asking if you was twitching. He decided it wasn't important to the answer.
"I'm not but Jude is. It would seem he is scared, or rather horrified, of dogs." David stepped to the side, carefully avoiding the still struggling book. He dropped a hand on Jude's shoulder. "Antony is back in the bedroom and Beau locked the door. You're fine. We need to find something for Clover and we cannot do that if you are imagining things." And with that, David was done speaking. He pulled out his wand and sent a silent stunning spell at the book, keeping it frozen long enough to shove it back into its place on the shelf.
Again, he tried to relax and remember where he had seen any book that might help them. David seemed to think there was something useful on the other side of the tall shelving unit so he stepped around the corner, out of Jude and Chris's sight.

Jude felt a hand drop onto his shoulder and this made him gasp slightly and turned to look. Greatful that it was only David he sighed deeply. "Antony is back in the bedroom and Beau locked the door. You're fine. We need to find something for Clover and we cannot do that if you are imagining things." [/b] Jude nodded quickly. "Okay." He said silently and relaxed a lot more now.
He looked around and grabbed a book, looking at the cover of it. When it had suddenly glowed red, he felt his head burn for a second and that the colour of his hair seemed to turn a flaming dark red. He quickly put the book back and as soon as he did his hair turned back to black.
He laughed lightly at himself and wondered what would happen to a bald person if they held this book. Still tracing through each of the books, he had noticed David turn the corner. He was focused on looking at the books that he had accidentally walked into Chris. "Oof!" He said, stepping back and rubbing his head.

“I’m not but Jude is. It would seem he is scared, or rather horrified, of dogs.” said David. Chris starred for a moment. Um… of course David wasn’t twitching, and of course Jude was. Apparently David didn’t listen as well as they claimed. Dogs, eh? Well wasn’t that great, Jude was afraid of dogs, wolves were dogs, Clover was half wolf. Okay, werewolf, but still, it had the word wolf in it. “Antony is back in the bedroom and Beau locked the door. You’re fine. We need to find something for Clover and we cannot do that if you are imagining things.”
Chris glanced over at David and saw him putting a book back. Chris pulled a book out, and dropped it to the ground when he felt a sharp pain in both hands. He saw Jude nod, but didn’t catch what he said. He looked down at his hands and saw red. He glared at the book, noting the silver backing had turned into razor blades. Before he could do anything about the blood coming from his throbbing hand he felt Jude bump into him.
“Oof!”
Chris pushed Jude off of him, getting blood on his sleeve. “Um… sorry.” Chris said, pulling his hands back and clenching the sides of his pajama pants to drain the blood.

“Um… sorry.” [/b] Jude didn't know why Chris was saying sorry at first until he saw bits of blood. "Woah, Chris what happened!" He said, worried.
He looked all around for maybe something he could use to help stop the bleeding. The only thing he could really think of doing was summoning some bandages.
He took his wand out and flicked it in the air, "Accio bandages." Jude waited for a few moments and then saw some bandages floating through the air. He took them in his hand. "Here." He said to Chris, giving them to him. He had learned the spell from a smart Gryffindor student. He didn't see the usefulness for that spell into now and he was quite greatful for it.

“Woah, Chris what happened!” Jude asked. It hadn’t sounded very questioning. “Accio bandages.”
“Oh. Thanks. I’m fine.” Chris said, somewhat surprised at being given flying bandages… from Jude.
“Here.” Jude said, handing him the bandages.
Chris felt moderately useless, which he disliked. He took the bandages, laying them over one arm as her sloppily tied them around each palm. “Thanks… um… had any luck with any healing books?” He asked, wanting much less attention. “Maybe David found something… he’s smart. I really don’t know… what that book is about.” He said, glaring at the sharp book.
He flicked his want, mumbling a spell, and watched as the shiny book landed itself back on a shelf. He no longer trusted the shelves, which might hinder his searching, just a little.
