Haruhi sighed heavily. The room was filled with various items; UFO trackers, star-maps, laws on time-travel and sci-fi novels appealed the most. However, as her golden brown eyes scanned the room, she recognised several bottles of fire-whiskey and a couple of sake. Her eyebrows rose. She hadn't really considered that she wanted those... oh, what the hell! Haruhi opened a bottle of sake, drinking heavily with loud gulps. Her entire skin seemed to warm; her brown bunny-girl costume wasn't exactly warm. Panting heavily, she remembered her original desire; singing practise. She picked up the red guitar, hooking it around her slender body before striking the heavy notes.
"I run past others with a parched heart. Sorry, I can't do anything. You won't even let me Share our pain together.
To live on without tarnish, I face your back and head out without looking back on the lonely rail
I will follow you. No matter how agonizing the world is, You will shine even in its darkest corners. Cross over the end of the future, My weakness will not shatter my spirit. my way is overlapping with yours. For the two of us, God bless...
You are here, I am here. Everyone else has disappeared. While we paint the beauty of this fleeting dream, We trace out the lines of our scars.
I will follow you. No matter how agonizing the world is, You will shine even in its darkest corners. Cross over the end of the future, My weakness will not shatter my spirit. my way is overlapping with yours. For the two of us, God bless..."
The song was familiar, her favourite from a Culture Festival back in primary school. She had had to perform it with only an hour's practise. It had been a hit and her instant favourite.
Haruhi sighed, running slowly over chords.

Ace had been wondering the corridors for countless hours now, just walking, not for any particular reason but now he fetl a bit alone and wanted someone to talk to.
Suddenly a door appeared to his left, the Room of Requirement....now normally Ace would think this to be a bit strange but decided what in this castle wasn't so he walked through and caught the girl half way through her song.
When she had finished, he clapped slowly.
"That was....amazing, you have some talent"
He said making his way over towards her, a smile on his face as he saw the bottles behind her.
"Sorry about barging in on you like that, the name's Ace....nice costume"
He said to her

Haruhi smiled broadly, glad to recieve praise. She glanced down at the outfit, sculpted to fit her body perfectly. It had no sleeves, only white cuffs around the wrists and hung fairly love on her breasts. The ears matched her hair, barely recognisable as being unnatural. That's why she liked it. It made her unique.
A frown and slight pout spread across her pretty face. What if this guy was just a typical wizard? Wizards were better than normal humans, but no where near as unique as the aliens, time-travellers and espers she seeked.
"Haruhi Suzumiya. If you're normal, besides the wizard thing, I have zero interest in you," she replied bluntly, tone emotionless.

Ace could of laughed, but he kept a straight face. He didn't know why but he bent over and picked up a bottle of sake and unscrewed the top.
"Mind if I have a drink?"
He asked her before answering her other question.
"Aye...a good question...but how do you define normal and are any of us really what is seen as normal?"

Haruhi's nose wrinkled. "Do what you want."
She considered what he said. What was normal? Normal was boring. Normal was wanting to pass school, have good friends, get a well-paid job and getting married. Normal was someone who never had adventures, who never did dangerous or crazy things.
"Normal is boring!" Haruhi announced fiestily. "And I have no time to waste for normal people," she added, running a hand through her layer hair.

Ace smiled as she said do what he wanted. He raised the bottle of sake up and a smirk came onto his lips.
"Here's to being something other than normal then"
He said before knocking his head back and guzzling down the sake....but not a few gulps....no not with Ace, he drank the whole bottle. After he had finished, he felt rather light headed...great....now Ace's track record with being drunk and sleeping with girls was rather substancial...but that was just Ace all over.
"Woooo, thats some great sake"
He said shaking his head slightly, he felt like his whole body was abuzz

Haruhi glared. "Idiot, do you even know how much alchohol's in that?"
Having grown up frequently sneaking sake, Haruhi had built up quite a resistence to her home country's favourite drink. Not really caring or noticing his response, she slowly ran through the chords of her favourite band's greatest hit, Sleepless Beauty.
"You'd better not throw up here, that'd be disgusting."

Ace laughed giddely, he was sooooooo smashed. So much so that he thought he was quicker and stealthier than he was and reached behind Haruhi and played with her tail "Your pretty good at that....you must of started young?" He asked her as he now sat down the ground and played with the shot glasses on the floor nearby.

Haruhi resisted the urge to growl. Not only had he done a typical male thing, but he was trying to engage her in small-talk. Haruhi hated small-talk with a passion; it was boring, dull and very, very normal. She bet the protagonists of Hagane no Renkinjutsushi never had to have such dull discussions with their monster enemies.
"No. I practise and play whenever I feel like it," she replied nonchalantly, playing the famous song at full-pace, muttering the lyrics to herself. She was amazed that Sakuma-sama was a teacher at this school; he was anything but normal. The singer had become a teacher and still carried a pink bear-rabbit hybrid with him everywhere. To be around him must be quiet thrilling, Haruhi had decided.

Ace frowned slightly, obviously she was a hard nut to crack. He looked up at her and listened to her as she muttered something which sounded like a song under her breath.
"Come on, sit, lets have a drink and get to know each other a bit"
He said in a rather serious tone, he wasn't one to play around much when people just played him down and made him feel like someone of lower stature of theirs.

Haruhi sighed. Clearly he wasn't going to leave. So, she sat down, guitar cradled in her lap. Pale fingers occasionally plucked at strings as she considered a question.
"Ever been in a closed-circle situation?" she settled upon. She didn't expect him to know what one was.

"Now you mention it, I have actually.....a while ago.....in the shrieking shack to be exact...somehow we got stuck in there"
He said to her, what he left out was that it had been on Hallows Eve and it was meant to be a party but the tunnel leading to it had collapsed from the vibrations from the music. He lent out and grabbed a glass and poured her out a glass of sake and slid it over to her.

Haruhi accepted the glass quickly downing it. "Did anyone die? Any suspicious and cruel people? Did it end in cannibalism and self-sacrifice?"
Haruhi set the glass on the ground, glancing fondly towards the star-chart. She doubted it. She knew what reality was like, as harsh as it was.

He slid the bottle over to her in case she wanted a re-fill. He laughed slightly at the thought of turning to cannabalism in that situation.
"Well cannabalism wasn't an option, none of the others had much meat on them you see and no....no deaths"
He said, his cheeks slightly pink, not from embarresment but from the alcohol he had consumed.

Haruhi scoffed. "I was in one once, and the guy who owned the mansion faked his death. Of course, I figured it all out, Kyon didn't point anything out or help me at all."
Actually, as it would seem, Kyon figured it all out. Stupid old friends from Japan...
"I never saw an alien, though..."
