Lao didn't hate the rain. He liked being in the downpour, feeling drops of water tracing his face. It was nice. Water always reminded him of his place. It reminded him that everyone had weaknesses, and should he ever lose control of himself, he knew water could quench his power and return him to an everyday person, with strength and weaknesses, and yet again he would have slipped through the grip of destiny.
"...yeah, we should."
He took a step forward, eyes trained strictly on his goal. The castle.

Elphaba nodded silently as they turned and headed for the imposing castle. The castle had been here home for eight years now and yet she still never had felt comfortable with the people there. Maybe it was because of her limited social interactions when she was young, or maybe it was because she just shyed away from the human race althogether, but she had never felt at home witht the students....
A small sigh escaped the green girl as she realized she had been doing this for too long... Deciding to go against her instinct she said quietly, "So what year are you in?"

Lao almost jumped at the sudden question but regained his cool in record time.
"I'm in fifth, Gryffindor. Apparently I'm some kind of tragic hero," he replied sarcastically. He considered himself anything but a hero; not even an anti-hero. Antagonist, now that was likely.

Elphaba smirked at the comment. It sounded like somthing she would have said if given the right conditions. Although she would never even consider herself a real hero....
"Not all Gryffindors are real heros," she said quietly her eyes scanning the sky to see if the clouds were growing darker.

"Yeah, that would be creepy," Lao agreed. He imagined everyone in his house constantly killing other students and teachers to avenge the suffering and pain of other or broken honour. It was not a pretty image. He doubted any of them could even lift a sword, let alone decapitate or disembowel someone.

"Hell yeah..." Elphaba muttered as the pair reached the Hogwarts steps. Looking around one last time, she reached and opened the door to the school before stepping in. Inside, she shook the water off her cloak and used a drying charm to dry any more water that was left upon her clothes or umbrella, and of course her hat.
"Thank you once again," Elphaba said quietly as she took her black witch's hat off and brushed it off.

"It's not a problem," Lao said, waving his hand dismissively. He didn't have anything else he wanted or needed to say; perhaps he should thank her for calming him down? He didn't want to slaughter anything anymore. No, that would be weird. He resolved to do nothing as he turned away.
"See ya," he said coolly, waving a hand as he started to walk away.

"Bye," Elphaba muttered as she watched Lao walked away for a long minute. She then took her black hat which was still in her emerald green hands, and put it back on. The hat had always made her feel safe and loved, so she was rarely without it.
Turning around, Elphaba slowly headed back towards her common room, avoiding anyone who came across her path.
